Detailed classification of anaesthetic agents; pre-anaesthetic classification of small animals; small ruminants; large ruminants; equine; sub-human primates; porcine; reptiles and avian species; Use and monitoring of local; regional; dissociative and general anaesthesia in wild and domestic animals; Recognizing and management of anaesthetic crises; Laboratory classes in small ruminants and small animals

Concepts of normality; electrolyte acid base balance; Carbohydrate; lipid; protein and mineral metabolism in health and disease; evaluation of liver; pancreatic; gastrointestinal and endocrine functions

Advanced study of exfoliates in organ and tissue biopsies and their interpretation in diagnostic and clinical pathology; Emphasis would be placed on microscopic evaluation and screening of smears from organs; effusions and tissue biopsies

The development of conceptus and the associated problems (Teratology); Methods of pregnancy diagnosis; obstetrical problems and their causes (maternal; fetal; presentational; postural; positional; monstrosities); Injuries and diseases incidental to parturition; diagnosis; management and prevention; Practical in institutional and commercial farms

Introduction and general characteristics; structure and taxonomy of mammalian viruses; Epidemiology of viral diseases; Viruses; viroids; and prions of veterinary and medical importance

Important zoo and wild-life animal diseases will be taught; Instructions on some aspects of wild-life management will be provided; Laboratory courses will consist of demonstration in form of field trip to renowned zoos and game reserves; Candidate will also be required to present a detailed clinical review based on capture; restrain; examination and clinical procedures

Types of animal by-products; hides and skins; blood; bones; hair; wool; hooves; feathers; gut and ruminal contents; Current techniques in the handling of these products; utilization of products both in food and non-food preparations
