Course Description
This course helps the students to understand how the physical environment operates and functions. At the end of the course, the students should be able to: 1. describe the composition of the earth’s crust, atmosphere and hydrosphere; 2. describe the origins of landforms; and 3. identify and explain the cycling of matter and energy.
Course Outline
Composition and structure of the lithosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere; Nature, distribution, evolution and significance of the First Order Relief Forms of the earth. The earth’s radiation, atmospheric and oceanic circulation systems. Introduction to the cycling of matter and energy in eco-systems.
