Human Anatomy I

Upon successful completion, students should be able to: 1. recognise and describe the major structures of the human body; 2. discuss the structural organisation and functions of each system of the human body; 3. apply their knowledge of human anatomy to solve questions regarding function and disease; 4. identify clinical scenarios, the concepts and knowledge of the general terminology, cell structure and function, histology, and gross anatomy of several organ systems (integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous); 5. analyse and critically evaluate various sources of information related to these systems to discern reliable scientific information from unsourced information and pseudoscience; 6. demonstrate how human organ systems are interrelated, to apply a holistic approach to human health; and 7. develop research skills, including critical analysis, interpretation, synthesis, and communication of scientific data.

An overview of cell biology; tissue structures and human histology; basic structure of the human body; body planes and positions; the skeleton; regional anatomy of the upper limb, lower limb, thorax and abdomen.
