Textiles and Designing for the Environment and Interiors

Course Description
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. understand parameters for designing for the environment; and
2. the Gain insight into the conceptual grounds for sustainable designing about the
environment.
Course Outline
Engaging the taxonomy of the exterior and exterior spaces of human interactions, green and
sustainable designing are core to this course. The ideological underpinning from the above
strategies is applied to soft furnishings, canopies, drapes, and props for the environment to
meet sociological and psychological needs. Design adequacy for space and purpose is integral
to the course, focusing on the material, structure, structure, task, and semantics of space.
