Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. know the causes and techniques of preventing and controlling soil erosion;
2. learn reclamation techniques for degraded land; and
3. know the role of bioremediation in correcting environmental damage.
Course Outline
Soil erosion: causes, prevention and control technique (such as tree planting, use of sustainable
farming system and so much more). Reclamation techniques for degraded mine sites, sand dune
management (sand dune fixation with indigenous, and exotic plant species), zone afforestation
and reforestation programmes. Reclamation/Rehabilitation of wetland, shelter belt establishment
and management, micro and macro climatic applications.
