Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. explain the nature of built environment;
2. know economic production systems and the factors influencing them; and
3. learn how to measure urban environmental quality.
Course Outline
This course introduces the students to the concept of built environment, which arises through the
development activities of the human person. Students would be informed about the number and
quality of the world’s people and the conditions of their cities, farms, factories, roads. and how
to grow at the expense of the natural environment and impact on the environment as a whole.
The course will also examine the economic production systems and the factors influencing them
as well as how they promote or degrade the quality of the environment, urban utilities, and index
of measuring urban quality.
