Introduction to Auto CAD and BIM Quantity Surveyors

Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Gain awareness and understanding of the various drawing tools available in AutoCAD
software;
2. Develop the knowledge and skill for using the AutoCAD software to produce small scale
architectural designs;
3. Develop the knowledge and skill for measuring AutoCAD drawings using CAD Measure
software; and
4. Develop the knowledge and skill for using Quantity Surveying BIM tools for bill of quantities
production and costing of construction works.
Course Outline
Introduction to AutoCAD software; awareness of the various tools in use in AutoCAD software,
using the software to produce basic architectural shapes; practical to involve mini architectural
designs with production of all drawings using AutoCAD; the link between AutoCAD drawings and
CAD measure software. Use of quantity surveying BIM tools for bill of quantities production and
costing of construction works. Introduction to NAVIS WORK and other Industry specific software
relevant to the Quantity Surveyor.
