Hard and Soft Tissue Disorders/Craniofacial Anomalies

Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. relate the development of the dentition to the process of eruption; and
2. relate the development of the dentition to the aetiology of structural abnormalities and
occlusal problems.
Course Outline
Soft tissue disorders. Hard tissue disorders at different stages of dental development,
considerations in the dental management of disorders and anomalies including cleft lip and
palate, oral soft tissue lesions and anomalies in children. Dental anomalies including, eruption
and exfoliation disorders. Disorders of tooth number, size and form or shape. Disorders of tooth
structure. Common occlusal problems during tooth exchange.
