Gross Anatomy of Pelvis and Perineum

At the end of this course, students should be able to: 1. enumerate the three bones forming the wall of the pelvic cavity; 2. explain the articular surfaces and ligaments of the sacroiliac and lumbosacral joints as well as those of pubic symphysis; 3. identify the boundaries and planes of pelvic inlet and outlet as well as the axis of the pelvic cavity; 4. distinguish the various pelvic diameters and pelvic types; 5. describe the attachments, actions and neurovascular supply of the muscles forming the floor, lateral and posterior walls of the pelvic cavity; 6. identify the endopelvic fascia and its condensations; 7. enumerate the external and internal features of the rectum as well as its neurovascular supply; 8. list the external and internal features of the urinary bladder and its neurovascular supply; 9. describe the relations and neurovasculature of prostate; 10. explain the relations, external and internal features of the uterine tubes, uterus and vagina as well as their neurovasculature; 11. identify the divisions of perineum; 12. explain the male external genitalia and their neurovascular supply; 13. explain the female external genitalia and their microvasculature; and 14. discuss the boundaries and contents of ischiorectal fossa.
