Description
This seminar explores how artificial intelligence is transforming universities and examines what Nigerian higher education institutions should teach to prepare students for an AI-driven economy. It considers the impact of AI on teaching, learning, research, assessment, academic and professional roles, and graduate employability.
Participants will critically examine the changing balance between technical AI skills, data literacy, disciplinary knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and ethical judgement. The seminar will also consider challenges including academic integrity, AI bias, privacy, responsible AI use, and governance.
Using the Nigerian higher-education context, participants will evaluate whether existing curricula remain fit for purpose and explore practical approaches to curriculum redesign, AI literacy, interdisciplinary education, and industry-aligned skills development. The session aims to move beyond simply teaching students to use AI towards developing graduates who can understand, evaluate, govern, and responsibly apply AI in their professional fields.
