At the end of this course, students should be able to:

Course Outline
History of health services administration in Nigeria. Nigeria health system and organisation of
health services. Concepts, principles and functions of management. Comparative analysis of
health care systems in different countries. The health team. The health planning Process.
Management of human, materials and financial resources. Population policies and poverty,
Evaluation of Health Services, National health policy/national health Act. National health
strategy. Healthcare financing. Introduction to healthcare financing. Demand for healthcare
and services. Healthcare as a commodity. The economics of healthcare. Options of healthcare
financing. Health insurance. The NHIS. Community based insurance.
