Fundamentals of Information Technology

Course Description
At the end of this course, student should be able to:
1. itemise basic concepts and terminology of information technology;
2. have a basic understanding of personal computers and their operations; and
3. identify issues related to information security.
Course Outline
Pervasive themes in information technology; information technology systems model; a gentle
introduction to information technologies – human–computer interaction, information
management; networking, platform technologies, programming, and web systems and
technologies; data versus information; history of information technology and internet; information
technology and its related and informing disciplines; information technology application domains.
