Course Description
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. possess ability to identify different sources of finance and its management;
2. explain health insurance and purpose of health insurance scheme;
3. appreciate the assumption of private health insurance;
4. compare and contrast private and government-sponsored health insurance;
5. describe diversity of voluntary medical care insurance plans under different sponsorships; and
6. discuss the scope of coverage and benefits of national health insurance scheme.
7. expound the decree of establishing the national health insurance scheme.
Course Outline
Definition of health care, meaning of finance, sources and management of health care finance,
define health insurance, purpose of health insurance scheme. Assumption of private health
insurance. Comparison of private and government-sponsored health insurance. Analysis of
diversity of voluntary medical care insurance plans under different sponsorships, scope of
coverage and benefits of national health insurance scheme, analysis and critique of National
Health Insurance scheme, examination of decree establishing the National Health Insurance
Scheme.
