Building Maintenance I

Course Description
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. explain concept of maintenance management;
2. carry out structural surveys of buildings;
3. carry out alterations, conversions and improvement in buildings; and
4. identify and discuss causes of deteriorations in buildings.
Course Outline
This course will introduce students to the principles, theories and practices in building
maintenance management. It may cover topics like building condition assessment, remediation
actions, and maintenance types.
The course deals with building maintenance technology, decay of building-agencies involved,
alterations, conversion, improvements in buildings, design defects and remedies, structural
surveys of buildings, maintenance of all buildings, mechanical services.
