Basic Surveying I

Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Appreciate the place of land surveying in Estate Management;
2. Understand the practical use of modern surveying instruments such as hand-held GPS
devices; and
3. Become familiar with the fundamental principles and applications of Geographic Land
Information Systems.
Course Outline
General introduction to various aspects of surveying, use of simple survey equipment; principles
and practice of chain surveying, compass traversing. Introduction to survey draughtsmanship.
