At the end of this course, students should be able to: 1. demonstrate sound theoretical knowledge of the subject; 2. list and display sound clinical skills in the evaluation of the gastroenterology patient; 3. investigate patients with utmost prioritisation; 4. manage and prevent the disease as may be applicable; and 5. exhibit sound knowledge of individual and community level prevention of diseases. 148

Peptic ulcer disease. Cholecystitis and pancreatitis with consideration of diagnostic procedure such as laboratory tests. Cholecystogram. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Chronic active hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Gastrointestinal bleeding. Gastrointestinal malignancies. Malabsorption syndromes. Hepatic failure.
