Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. discuss the human eye as an optical system and principles of refractive errors, myopia,
hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia;

2. describe the spectacle corrections of refractive errors;
3. explain the need for low vision rehabilitation; and
4. define blindness and visual impairment.
Course Outline
Human eye as an optical system. Emmetropia. Principles of common refractive errors and
corrections, myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, presbyopia. Physiology of accommodation.
Low vision rehabilitation.
