PHS 207
Physiology Practical
2 Unit(s) (PH 90)
Course Description
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. demonstrate diffusion and osmosis and osmotic fragility of RBCs;
2. determine the number of red blood corpuscle and white blood cells per cubic millimetre of
blood;
3. illustrate the differential leucocytes count;
4. explain hemoglobin concentration;
5. discuss packed cell volume and other haematological indices; and
6. determine the bleeding, clotting time of blood sample and blood group.
Course Outline
Osmotic fragility of RBCs. Differential leucocytes Count. Prothrombin time. Cross-matching of
blood. Haematological indices (MCHC, MCV).
