IDL 403
Thermal, Compositional and Structural Effects in Glass
2
Course Description
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Describe the relationships between the composition of glass and thermal history during glass
melting and their resultant effects on the structure and properties of glass.
Course Outline
Relationship of properties to thermal history, composition and structure of glass such as viscosity,
surface tension, density and specific gravity chemical durability, electrical properties, optical
properties, mechanical properties and their relationship to glass structure.
