IDD 202
Computer Aided Design and Development
2
Course Description
At the end of the course, students should be able to
1. demonstrate the understanding of computer hardware, software systems; and
2. translate 3-dimensional digital models into real objects using appropriate CAM software and
application systems such as 3D printing.
Course Outline
In Computer Aided Design and Development, students are introduced to the use of computer
software in design. Introductory digital 2-dimensional design exercises will be conducted. Basic
knowledge and use of relevant software relevant in 2-D design and modelling will be the focus at
this level. Students will be encouraged to explore both conservative and non-conservative concept
to initiate projects in respective areas of specialisation in Industrial Design. It will explore study
on 3-Dimensional digital modelling skills and 3D animation techniques, introductory learning
about 3-D design modelling and animation with exposure to current trends.
