Course Description
At the end of the course, students should be able to: 1. fabricate removable orthodontic appliances and solder different wires; 2. interpret dentist’s prescription for removable orthodontic appliance; 3. describe and evaluate construction process and finished removable appliances; 4. recognise the classification of occlusion and orthodontic appliances; 5. describe different stages of fabrication of functional orthodontic appliances; and 6. describe construction process and evaluate finished functional appliances.
Course Outline
Principles of design and fabrication of removable and functional orthodontic appliances. Classification and types of removable and functional appliances. The equipment and materials for the fabrication of functional appliances. The stages and process of fabrication of removable and functional appliances. Principles of selection of removable orthodontic appliances and types of anchorage used.
